South Carolina send these type case to UNTCHI because they do not have the technology work the case.

DNA Reference Samples
NIJ is making Federal resources available to State and local law enforcement officials to identify human remains and help solve missing persons cases. Families may submit their DNA reference sample for analysis and uploading into CODIS free charge at UNT Center for Human Identification at UNTHSC through any law enforcement agency, medical examiner, or corner. Without family's DNA reference samples, the hundreds of deceased with completed DNA profiles may forever remain unidentified. Law enforcement agencies, medical examiners, and coroners may request free family reference sample collection kits at (800) 761-3147.
